The Rostelecom Corporation renders services of transmission of TV and radio broadcasting signals to ensure the distribution of national (regional) state-owned or private TV and radio companies.
Channel Leasing for Scheduled Television and Radio Broadcasting
TV and radio broadcasting channels use the long-distance analogous and digital
radio-relay, cable or optical fiber communication lines.
The national TV programs are received by the Russia largest switch room of the
Long-Distance TV Commutation Technical Centre (Tekhnicheski centr kommutacii mezhdugorodnego televideniya, TCKMT) located on the premises of the The General Intercity Telecommunication and TV Coordination Centre (Glavny centr upravleniya mezhdugorodnimi svyazyami i televideniem, GCUMS) in Ostankino, Moscow.
From the TCKMT, the TV programs are transmitted to the Rostelecom ground
long-distance network and further to the regional centres, space communication transmitters, and input points of the satellite communication channels.
The national radio broadcasting signals pass through the Long-Distance Broadcasting Switch Room (Mezhdugorodnyaya veschatelnaya apparatnaya, MVA) which is a part of the
Long-Distance Radio Broadcasting Service (Sluzhba mezhdugorodnego radioveschaniya, SMR) of the GCUMS. These signals reach the regional radio broadcasting stations and satellite communication terminals by the cable and optical fiber communication lines.
Leasing of Channels for Off-Schedule Television and Radio Broadcasting
The Rostelecom Corporation organizes and maintains the one-time
long-distance and international TV and radio programs broadcasting upon request from Russian and foreign TV companies or communication administrations.
Customers are supplied with the channels for TV and radio broadcasting and commentary transmission, as well as for service and technical communication inside the Russian Federation.
To provide an international TV and radio broadcasting on behalf of Russian TV and radio companies, the Rostelecom Corporation acting as an international operator orders communication channels from foreign communication administrators.
